About Salvation Woodworks

Who Am I?

Let me introduce myself. I’m Al Fletcher and I LOVE wood!

I was introduced to logging at a very young age and bought my first chainsaw when I was 14. I have always enjoyed cutting trees and working with wood in general. I have only recently discovered the joy of turning wood on the lathe, and the pleasure it has given me to explore my artistic side. I am always amazed at the beauty that is hidden inside of a block of wood. All of my pieces are finished naturally, with no stain or color added. God provides the beauty in what He has created, and I simply turn the vessel.

The Shop

There are two main pieces of equipment in my shop. A lathe capable of turning items up to 24” in diameter and a bandsaw for cutting blanks up to 16” thick. There are also many lathe tools for shaping the wood, sandpaper for smoothing it out, finishes for making it shine, and of course, there is me. I also have an awesome chainsaw with a 42” bar for processing the reclaimed wood.

I create:

  • Hand-turned wooden bowls
  • Charcuterie boards
  • Platters
  • Cremation Urns
  • Elder balls (fire starters)

Made from: 100% reclaimed wood; urban tree cuttings, storm damage, firewood, barnwood, and pallets. No live trees are harmed for the art that I create.

The best parts of this new venture in life is the people I get to meet, and seeing the joy it brings someone when they make one of my creations their own.

Most importantly, I believe that God has blessed me so that I can be a blessing to others. I will be donating 10% of each sale to Compassion International and Teen Challenge.
